Acceptable Use Policy
This Policy protects recipients, our customers and the sending reputation everyone shares. It is part of the Terms of Service and applies to every send made through the API, the SMTP server or the dashboard of SMTP2U.
1. Send only to people who expect your message
- Send marketing email only to people who gave clear consent, or with whom you have a business relationship that justifies the contact, under applicable law.
- Transactional email, such as confirmations, receipts and password resets, must result from an action by the recipient.
- Keep proof of how and when each contact joined your list. We may ask for it if there is a complaint.
2. What is prohibited
- Spam and any unsolicited bulk sending.
- Lists that were purchased, rented, traded, scraped from websites or public sources, or generated by guessing addresses.
- Phishing, fraud, and forging an identity, a sender or message headers.
- Malware and malicious links or attachments.
- Unlawful content, content that infringes the rights of others, or that promotes violence, discrimination or the exploitation of children and teenagers.
- Pyramid schemes, misleading promises of earnings and offers prohibited by law.
- Using the service to test or validate email lists.
- Attempts to get around limits, account review, the suppression list or a suspension, including by creating multiple accounts.
3. Requirements for marketing email
- A clear, working unsubscribe link in every message. SMTP2U adds this link to campaigns and processes the request immediately.
- Truthful sender identification and a subject that matches the content.
- Immediate respect for unsubscribe requests and for the suppression list.
- Compliance with the laws that apply to your recipients, such as the LGPD, the CAN-SPAM Act and the GDPR.
4. Quality limits
Providers such as Gmail, Outlook and Yahoo penalize senders with many bounces and complaints. We therefore track two indicators per workspace:
| Indicator | Safe limit | What we do above it |
|---|---|---|
| Bounce rate | up to 4% | Warning and a request to clean the list. If it persists, sending is suspended |
| Complaint rate (spam) | up to 0.08% | Warning and a review of where contacts came from. If it persists, sending is suspended |
Addresses that bounce permanently, complain or unsubscribe are added automatically to the suppression list of the workspace and stop receiving messages.
5. Security and use of the infrastructure
- Protect your API keys and revoke any that leak.
- Do not try to access data of other customers, overload the service, run scans or penetration tests without written authorization.
- Respect request rate limits and message size limits.
6. What happens in case of a violation
Depending on severity, we may ask for clarification, limit volume, suspend sending or close the account, immediately and without refund, and cooperate with authorities when the law requires. Whenever possible, we will warn you first and give you time to fix the problem.
7. How to report abuse
Received an unwanted email sent through SMTP2U? Forward the complete message, with headers, to abuse@smtp2u.com. We review every report.
